Recently appointed Regional Manager for Asia Pacific, Tushar Thakker is one of a large Brokerslink delegation heading to Singapore for the PARIMA Singapore Conference 2025.
Tushar, who is also the CEO for Peraj Insurance Brokers, an insurance broker with 75 years of history in India, is also a passionate advocate for building relationships and opportunities across regions, a critical part of his role as Regional Manager. We wanted to know more about the importance of PARIMA to Tushar, and some of the challenges facing risk professionals across the Asia Pacific region, so we arranged some time to chat with him before he set off for Singapore!
Tushar, why is the PARIMA conference such a key event for you?
Since Brokerslink launched in 2004, Asia has been an important part of the network’s strategy. We are actually present in 50% of the countries across the Asia Pacific region and are keen to strengthen that footprint. We believe we have a role to play in supporting the growth and strength of these regional markets, as well as giving our Partners and Affiliates in other parts of the world improved access to the region.
Attending PARIMA as Brokerslink Regional Manager for Asia Pacific, I’m keen to enhance our visibility in this important region, explore new domestic and international business opportunities and highlight our broad, risk and insurance ecosystem to this key market.
PARIMA is a strong platform to share ideas, business and promote global risk management standards and we’re proud to be Gold sponsor this year.
Also, from my perspective as the CEO of Peraj, we’re increasingly seeing Indian companies expanding into the broader Asia Pacific region, this conference is a great opportunity to show up, be visible and understand first-hand the markets and landscape in other countries.
What do you think will be some of the biggest topics for risk professionals during PARIMA?
Geopolitical risk has been a big concern in recent months, and we’ve seen significant unrest and policy changes in some of the world’s most dominant markets. This continues to be a concern for us as brokers, and our clients.
Parametric solutions have also been gaining even more traction, driven by a number of large catastrophe events. It’s really encouraging to see so many innovative solutions hitting the market, giving more businesses access to vital cover.
Have you noticed a change in the services and support risk managers want from their brokers?
The demands on risk professionals has never been higher. They are contending with a more complex risk landscape than ever before, and are looking for new solutions and strategies to complement their existing approach. Both within Brokerslink and Peraj, we are getting requests for support with a wide variety of different issues, setting up captives, digital solutions, risk management consultancy services for example. Brokerslink has been ahead of the curve, developing a growing ecosystem of risk and insurance services that go beyond placement into all these areas, with more being added each year. These services put our Partners and Affiliates in a perfect position to offer greater, more valuable support to our clients. PARIMA will be an excellent opportunity for us to showcase this valued-added approach to insurance broking.
In your opinion, how are independent brokers viewed in the APAC markets?
Independent brokers are considered a strong force in the market, and we consistently hear positive feedback about how we can offer greater efficiency, quality, speed and better localised market knowledge and support. Businesses of all sizes see the difference in service and trust us to protect them. We’ve especially seen an increase in large corporations coming to us for support, recognising the additional value we can bring in terms of service and cross-border support.
Brokerslink is a Gold sponsor of the PARIMA Conference Singapore on 29-30 October 2025. Visit booth G5 to meet with Tushar and other risk and insurance experts from across the region. We’ll see you there!
