A time to reflect and celebrate: José Manuel Fonseca shares his 2025 highlights

As the year draws to a close, we spoke to Brokerslink President and CEO, José Manuel Fonseca, to discover his proudest moment of 2025, personal highlights and a get a glimpse of what lies ahead for Brokerslink in 2026.

José Manuel, what was your proudest achievement of 2025?
Without a doubt, it was our global conference in Madrid, an incredibly special moment for the whole Brokerslink community.  We brought together people from 92 different countries this year, and it meant so much that people took time out of their busy lives, travelling great distances to spend time together.
I often hear that even people joining our Global Conference for the first time immediately feel welcome, like guests at a wedding. This is the atmosphere I want to keep for our  guests, lively, warm and welcoming but with a strong professional tone.  In this way, I feel that the conference embodies the very DNA of Brokerslink, overtly human, but infused with professionalism. 
This year, we had incredibly strong speakers and carefully picked topics, designed to enrich our audience.  My goal is for everyone to leave our Global Conferences happier for spending time with valued friends and partners, and richer for learning more about our world and the insurance market.
I’d like to thank our fantastic team for their hard work in bringing Brokerslink 2025 to life. Each conference reflects an entire year of dedication and a tireless effort to make each year’s event better than the previous one.  

What was your personal highlight of this year?
I have two!
Firstly, it was an honour to shine a spotlight on Delphine Traoré, the CEO of Sanlam Allianz General Insurance, whom I have known for some years.  Delphine was one of the speakers in Madrid, and she spoke so openly about her early life and journey through insurance. It was an honour to share her story with our audience.
Second was our European Regional Meeting in Budapest, Hungary.  Over 100 people joined us from all over Europe, and even the US, making it our biggest regional meeting yet.  Incredible to think that our regional meetings have now grown larger than the very first global conference!  What made it really special though, was the fact that our host for the event, Hungarikum Insurance Brokers, has only been part of our network for two years. Their investment in building such a strong, engaging regional event demonstrates their belief in the Brokerslink model and I am incredibly grateful to the team for their support.
In fact, this meeting is a clear example of how our regional presence roots are so solid.. In 2026, we’ve decided to rebrand our Regional meetings as ‘Forums.’ We feel that the simple word ‘meeting’ no longer does justice to the mini-conference these events have become! 


What role do broking networks like Brokerslink play in the evolving market, and why is this important?
Broking networks, like Brokerslink, provide independent brokers with a competitive vehicle to serve their clients and develop international capabilities that would be much more difficult to access through traditional global, mono-brand companies. 
We can deliver more efficient client-friendly service, grounded in local market knowledge and expertise. Our model, in particular, makes it easy for brokers to build strong relationships with Partners and Affiliates in other companies, helping them to deliver large-scale, multinational programmes with people they can trust.
I believe the market genuinely needs this alternative model. Networks offer a different, valuable way of operating. Looking ahead, with ongoing consolidation through mergers and acquisitions creating ever-larger organisations, the role of broking networks may become even more important, ensuring clients have genuine alternatives and preserving the local expertise and entrepreneurial flexibility that can get lost in large corporate structures.


Finally, what are your goals for Brokerslink in 2026?
Each year, our goal is to continually evolve, building a stronger, richer ecosystem to support our Partners and Affiliates.  I’m delighted at what we’ve achieved so far, but as the market changes, we need to ensure we’re constantly ahead of the curve, offering our brokers new products, solutions and innovations to help their businesses to thrive.
In 2026, we’re investing in our technology, expanding our team, giving us greater capacity to support our Partners and Affiliates, and building a stronger presence at international events.
A big priority for me in 2026 is our Global Conference in Istanbul.  Together with our hosts NART Insurance, we’re working on some exciting plans to make Brokerslink2026 another dynamic, impactful event, and I can’t wait.
My overarching goal for 2026 is to cement Brokerslink’s position as a premium broking company serving the global market.
